Our next morning in Garmisch we woke up to a fresh blanket of snow and spots of blue sky with sunshine as the fog rolled out. After packing up our things, we left the hotel (pictured below) to begin our day. I quickly proceeded to drag Brad out into this picturesque, open field by the hotel to explore the little hay buildings and the fresh powder beneath the Alps.

On our way home, we were sure to stop by Neuschwanstein Castle. Built in the 1800's, it is known as the "Disney Castle" as it provided the inspiration for Walt Disney's Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty castles.

The walk up to the castle was quite gorgeous, and you could see the castle next door (Hohenschwangau Castle) as well as much of the Füssen area below. And while the castle is known for its clean white exterior, the bright coral wall at the entrance is quite stunning!

Unfortunately, they do not allow pictures inside of the castle (a shame because its one of the most stunning interiors I've ever seen!), but we got some great ones in the formal courtyard before going in for our tour.

As we walked away, I looked back sadly, wishing we'd had more time and that we'd be able to visit this beautiful arched bridge that is supposed to offer some miraculous views of the castle and valley (it was closed for restoration). But even so, our visit in the snow was quite magical and I fully intend on returning this Summer!
